ideas behind the window project

In the first project, the assignment was to draw an item in the the school and then transform it into an action drawing. I chose my item from bradley hall, the window. With this window I drew a picture of New York City. The inspiration came from the music we listened to in class. I first started with the window, then moved on to what was in front of the window. For no apparent reason, I decided to draw a businessman drinking coffee and sitting on a couch in his office. Then I was faced with the challenge of nature. I started drawing all the big building one would see if they went to Manhatten. I don't really know why I made it rain outside, but I liked the idea so I kept it going.

I liked the way the drawing came out. I think it shows a good contrast between rich business men and random sidewalkers. If I could go back, I would draw a complex patterned rug. That would help show the contrast better.
