This project was to find an article or photo and change the image to the way "I see it." This was my favorite project of them all, because I had the most passion for this one. My picture that I used was a picture of Manny Ramirez on the Red Sox hitting in the old Yankee Stadium. I wanted to show the long history of the Red Sox always falling short to the powerful Yankees. From my perspective, Manny is a lot bigger and important than the other Yankee players.
I tried recreating the old Yankee Stadium. On the field, the best rivalry in sports is competing for bragging rights. For my yankees players, I used a mix of old and current players. The second baseman, Billy Martin, is a retired number and is in the hall of fame. The pitcher is AJ Burnett. The catcher is Yogi Berra, another retired number, hall of famer and Aflac spokesperson.
On the bottom of the picture, you can see the edge of the infield dirt. The pitchers mound is realistic with a rosin bag, a cleat cleaner and the lower dirt next to the physical mound where the pitcher pushes off from. All of the bases and mounds standout, because I outlined them in the black paint marker. The home plate dirt has the main attraction on it. Manny stands pretty tall compared to his Yankee foe. I tried making Manny swing. This was hard, because of all the muscle flexes, creases in the jersey and pants and proper mechanics. I am very impressed with how Manny turned out. Behind him you can see the many Yankee fans. I made them miniscule because they are Yankee fans. They are trapped behind the net.
If I could go back, I would draw the infield dirt with a paint marker because it fits the rest of the picture. Also I would spend more time on Manny's face and get it perfect. It did turn out good though, so I shouldn't be complaining.
